MCP setup guide
Connect Claude
to PlainDeck.
Keep creating in your conversation. Make room for review.
Start with a copy & paste
Let your assistant walk you through it.
Copy this prompt into a Claude conversation. It checks for an existing connection or helps you set one up.
Help me set up PlainDeck in Claude.
Check my connection, guide me through sign-in, and help me make my first cards.

Help me set up PlainDeck in Claude. MCP server: https://plaindeck-api.attentionplease.build/mcp Authentication: OAuth with automatic client registration. If PlainDeck’s tools are already available in this conversation, check the connection with a read-only request. Otherwise, guide me through adding this server as a custom connector in Claude, one short step at a time. Wait while I sign in to my PlainDeck account and approve the connection myself. Don’t ask me to paste a password, API key, or access token into this chat, and don’t claim the connection is complete until a PlainDeck tool call succeeds. Once connected, ask what I want to study. Draft a small set of question-and-answer flashcards from the material I provide and let me review them before saving.
The prompt guides you; adding the connection and approving sign-in still happen in your assistant’s settings.
https://plaindeck-api.attentionplease.build/mcpSign in with the same PlainDeck account you use in the app. The connection belongs to your account.
Step-by-step
One setup. More room to learn.
Your organization’s owner may need to add PlainDeck first. Then each person signs in with their own PlainDeck account. Check Claude’s official guide for your plan’s options.
Open your connectors.
In Claude, open Customize → Connectors. Some clients show this under Settings → Connectors. Select Add, then Add custom connector.
Add PlainDeck’s server.
Name the connector PlainDeck, paste the remote MCP URL, and continue:
https://plaindeck-api.attentionplease.build/mcpReview the detected authentication settings. Use OAuth sign-in; when an OAuth client option is shown, choose Register automatically for PlainDeck. No fixed request headers or API key are needed.
Connect your PlainDeck account.
Select Connect or Sign in now. Sign in on PlainDeck with the account you use in the app, review the requested permissions, and approve. Return to Claude to finish.
Enable PlainDeck in your conversation.
Open the + menu and choose Connectors. Enable PlainDeck for the chat, then ask it to help you create a deck.
Setup checked October 11, 2026 against Claude’s official guide. Menus can vary by client and plan.
Make your first deck
Start with something you want to remember.
Attach your notes or paste a short passage into the conversation. Then try this prompt:
Create a deck called Biology Essentials with 12 short question-and-answer flashcards from these notes. Show me the cards before saving them to PlainDeck.
Review the proposed cards, then ask your assistant to save them. Open the same account in PlainDeck to find the new deck. The website preview uses sample cards; it does not create anything in your library.
If something gets in the way
A few things to check.
I can’t see the option to add a connection.
Look in Customize → Connectors (or Settings → Connectors, depending on your client). On a Team or Enterprise account, an owner may need to add the connection before you can use it.
The sign-in or permission request expired.
Return to your assistant and start the connection again. Complete the PlainDeck sign-in and consent in the same flow. Opening the MCP URL directly is not the sign-in flow.
My cards aren’t showing in the app.
Check that your assistant reported a successful save, then refresh your library. Make sure the app and connection use the same PlainDeck account. A drafted answer in your conversation is not a saved card.
The assistant can’t use a card tool.
Enable PlainDeck for the current conversation. If the connection has expired, reconnect. In ChatGPT, an administrator may need to refresh and approve updated tools.
How do I disconnect?
Open the assistant’s connection settings and disconnect PlainDeck. If you need help revoking access, contact support. Deleting your PlainDeck account also revokes the assistant tokens it issued.
You’re ready to make it stick.
Open PlainDeck, find your deck, and flip your first card. Start a session when you’re ready to review.
